Speaking to host Eva Pilgrim, the Australian actress revealed she thought she was going to lose her child after suffering from severe health conditions.
She told the anchor she underwent several tests for a diagnosis after experiencing “unexplainable pain, fatigue, cramping, and nausea” in her teenage years.
“I was tested for cancer – I had MRIs, ultrasounds, and CT scans, just you name it.
“I was checked for everything.”
However, doctors were unable to come up with a diagnosis.
Bindi, who shares her daughter with her husband Chandler Powell, told the host at times the pain became so unbearable that she thought she was going through a pregnancy loss.
“I would often have times where I thought I was miscarrying because I would have severe unexplained pain.
“I would think that I was losing our beautiful daughter.”
After 10 years of enduring horrific pain, extreme fatigue, and nausea, Bindi received her answers last year.
She was diagnosed with endometriosis – a long-term condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the womb, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Her illness, which affects one in nine women, was discovered after Bindi was pushed to undergo a laparoscopic surgery to inspect her abdomen and pelvic region in early 2022.
Bindi went public with her diagnosis in March of the same year.
After specialised treatments, Bindi said she felt like she had received “a second chance in life”.
In an interview with People, she said: “I feel brand new.
“It’s not like a light switch, but every week I feel like I’m able to do a little bit more.
“Now I wake up in the morning, and I don’t have to take anti-nausea medicine or have my heat pack.
“Being able to go for a walk with my daughter and not feeling like I have to throw up in the bushes is just wild to me.”
