THE Oscars is returning tonight for the annual Academy Awards show.
The 95th annual awards show is taking measures to prevent unanticipated “scenarios” after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at last year’s live event.
A “crisis team” will be poised to intervene if anything should happen, Bill Kramer, the CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, previously told Time.
“We’ve run many scenarios. So it is our hope that we will be prepared for anything that we may not anticipate right now but that we’re planning for just in case it does happen.”
Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the event this year, and he has poked fun at the thought of being slapped, saying to Hollywood Reporter: “Well, I size them up, and, if I’m bigger than they are, I beat the s*** out of them on television. And if it’s the Rock, I run.”
The Oscars will air live tonight at 8pm ET on ABC.
