Rapper Chris Brown to be quizzed by UK cops over bottle attack in London club

The victim, who was also allegedly kicked and punched, was taken to hospital.

Officers were called to the exclusive Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Central London, in the early hours of February 19.

It came as Brown was in the capital playing a string of concerts at The O2, watched by celebs including footie ace Harry Kane.

One source told The Sun on Sunday: “A row broke out with a guy and Brown’s crowd and the man was hit over the head with a bottle.

“He tried to get up off the ground to escape but he was surrounded and then punched and kicked before security broke it up.”

The victim went to hospital though his injuries were said not to be serious.

It is understood detectives have taken CCTV and spoken to potential witnesses.

Brown is due to return here to play The O2 again this month, and faces being quizzed by officers.

He has been involved with police on a number of occasions over the years.

In 2009, he assaulted his singer girlfriend Rihanna in Los Angeles, leaving her with serious facial injuries.

In 2013, Brown was arrested for assault in Washington DC, after refusing to take a picture with a man, and breaking his nose with a punch.

Brown voluntarily went into rehab but was kicked out the following March and sentenced to a year in jail for breaching probation.

A probation officer suggested his brushes with the law were the result of mental health issues.

Last week Brown was mired in further controversy at a Berlin gig when he grabbed a fan’s phone and threw it into the crowd.

A host of celebs flocked to Brown’s Under the Influence gigs at The O2 last month, with England footballer Kane, 29, requesting a backstage meeting.

Meanwhile, Brown’s noisy bashes with his entourage at his £4,000-a-night suite at the five-star Langham Hotel led to complaints from fellow guests.

The Metropolitan Police said of the incident at Tape: “Police were called at approximately 04:40hrs on Sunday, 19 February following reports of a man assaulted at a venue in Hanover Square, W1.

“There have been no arrests. Inquiries continue.”
