Inside Love Island’s most dramatic episode ever as islanders break down in tears and film emotional scenes til dawn

LOVE Island fans watched on last night as a brutal surprise dumping rocked the villa – in a two-couple axing.

Now, insiders have spilled the details behind the most dramatic show scenes yet, revealing it took HOURS to film as most of the contestants broke down in tears.

Love Island viewers were left in shock during Wednesday night’s episode as Maya Jama announced a dumping.

Maya, 28, was seen “crashing the party” before announcing that two couples would be leaving the villa.

Olivia Hawkins and Maxwell Samuda were instantly dumped from the show after receiving the least public votes.

The pair were then tasked with picking a second couple to be dumped from the show, out of Tanya and Shaq, Claudia and Keenan and Rosie and Casey.

But before the big reveal, the episode came to an end – leaving viewers waiting to find out who was dumped.

Now, a show insider has revealed that the tense scenes, which will air on ITV2 tonight, took “all night” to film.

A source exclusively told The Sun that the dumping twist left everyone “so emotional” as the Islanders “broke down in tears”.

“The dumping took hours and hours to film – it was past 6am before it was done,” the insider revealed.

“They were literally filming all night. It was so emotional – almost everyone broke down in tears and Olivia and Maxwell took ages to decide who to axe.

“It was so tense. With the drama and fighting all day, everyone was emotionally and physically exhausted – and the result was such a shock.”

It comes after Love Island fans admitted they were HORRIFIED after Olivia, 27, was given the power to send her co-stars home.

The brunette got the chop alongside her partner Maxwell, before the show twist put them in charge of the dumping.

Maya allowed them to hold their former co-stars futures in their hands, and gave them the job of choosing two Islanders to leave with them.

Fans were stunned by the decision, and flooded Twitter in shock that Olivia was being “given power”.

“They’re seriously giving Olivia of all people this power?” one furious viewer hit out, as a second said: “Giving her any power is nuts. Hallelujah she is out.”

“Letting Olivia send home the final couple, I hate this show but love it at the same time,” a third said.

The move sparked speculation about who was likely to be chosen, with Claudia Fogarty thought to be high on Olivia’s hit-list.

Some fans also suggested the vague nature of Maya’s instructions meant the pair could decide on any two people they wanted, not just a couple.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
