“Marcus was quiet, reserved and kept himself to himself. He’s always loved football.”
He added: “I often bump into people who work for him, like his PA, at the gym.”
Kai said it was his students who convinced him to try his luck at the villa.
He said: “Every year when the show comes on the pupils say, ‘Oh you should go on Love Island Sir, you’d be really good’.
“I am quite a confident individual thanks to standing in front of 30 kids every day, and playing rugby.
“My line manager said if he was a bit younger he would do it, and my other colleagues were very supportive.
“My plan is to stay working with kids, that’s my main goal, whether it is teaching or not.
“I think the way I conduct myself on the show will be key.
“I don’t think that’s detrimental to your career.”
