Gordon Ramsay Says he has been begged by fans to re-enact the sketch

The Hell’s Cafeteria clip, that has had 13 million views, saw Gordon, 56, slap two pieces of bread around the head of US TV host Julie Chan and called her an “Idiot Sandwich”.

Merchandise in America – including ear muffs that look like two slices of bread – is already on sale.

A TV insider said: “Being a shrewd businessman who’s up for a laugh, Gordon’s keen to bring the phenomenon to the UK.”

It comes in a busy period for Gordon with Next Level Chef debuting on ITV and a second series of Future Food Stars on BBC1 set to hit the screens.

On a follow-up visit to The Late Late Show, Gordon told host James: “My daughter Tilly was doing some revision for exams and her friends were round and they all jumped up as soon as I came in, grabbed the bread and said: ‘Please, please, Mr Ramsay, call me an idiot sandwich.’

“What the hell? It’s gone crazy.”
